in South Greenland

Agathe and Kalista’s guest farm in Greenland

Ipiutaq guest farm in South GreenlandSouth Greenland is a magical place. This is where Sarah first fell in love with the Arctic – and with very good reason.  Here, Greenland’s massive ice cap gives way to stunning fjords and islands – a bit like Norway but with fewer people, bigger mountains and more icebergs!  Glaciers lurk in the inner fjords and mountains are dusted with snow. The valleys are emerald green in summer with splashes of bright yellow flowers in the places where Viking settlers made their farms 500 years ago.

Agathe and Kalista are an inspirational French-Greenlandic couple who have taken on an old farmstead and are establishing their own sheep farm – with ice-bergs floating by. They are in the process of renovating a little guest house but meanwhile, they have a cosy guest room in their home with views across the fjord and they’d love you to visit! This is the perfect base for exploring south Greenland, ideal for hiking, fishing, bird-watching, botanising, whale-watching and investigating the fascinating Viking and Inuit archaeology… all this and Agathe’s cooking is amazing!

Gourmet kitchen: After outdoor arctic days you’ll be ready for a hearty meal. Agathe’s kitchen is a very special place where she blends local Greenlandic produce with French “savoir-faire”.
