ALASKA’S INSIDE PASSAGE with the Swanson Family
An extraordinary and intimate way to explore – where the cruise ships can’t reach! In 1981, John Swanson left the city and moved to Alaska with his wife Ellen and son Ben. They have become the most respected natural history and wildlife operators in the region. Their unrivalled local knowledge shines through every trip, resulting in amazing encounters with nature – whales, bears and eagles galore - you may even meet the friendly Humpback whale who sometimes swims alongside the boat, within touching distance! Their elegant 1930s motor yachht, ‘Discovery’ is perfect for these adventures – with space for just 10 guests.
These holidays are run by the Swansons and we know that you will be well looked after. Meals prepard by chefs Brian and Suzi are truly gourmet and ‘Discovery’ is equipped with loads of ‘toys’ for guests to play with: 2 kayaks, a rowing skiff and two 13′ Boston Whalers with outboard motors - plus fishing tackle to catch your supper!
